FASHION INSPIRATION

01.12.09
TUESDAY - PART 5

I'm going to Australia in a couple of weeks and I was needing some fashion inspiration from my favorite outfits folder. I think it will be a bit too hot for some of these looks my mind is still in winter mode!

RANDOM POST

"Vanessa Randall of Wayne made her prom dress out of 3,000 gum wrappers.
WAYNE — Walking into the gym on prom night with a girl on his arm draped in a chewing-gum-wrapper dress was definitely different.
Max Pistner, a Maranacook Community High School senior, said he thought it was "very cool" that his girlfriend, Vanessa Randall, made her prom dress out of 3,000 gum wrappers.
Randall, a 17-year-old senior from Wayne, started collecting Wrigley gum wrappers three years ago to make the dress. Friends, relatives and co-workers saved wrappers for her.
Pistner, who lives in Manchester, said he was just glad she got the dress done in time. She started sewing it together only a week before their recent prom.
Randall said she reinforced the dress with duct tape inside along the edges and used elastic braids around the straps and collar and in between some of the chains down the back so she could easily slip into the dress.
She came up with the design after drawing sketches all year.
"I came up with how it was going to look like the week before the prom," she said. "The theme of the prom was Japanese, so I was inspired by that in making the collar and flower pattern around the middle and back."
Her father, David Randall, an artist and sculptor, said his daughter got the idea from an article she read about a Lewiston girl who made her prom dress out of Starburst candy wrappers.
"We had that newspaper article on the refrigerator. That was the inspiration for it," he said. "Vanessa wanted to do something different and came up with the gum wrappers. She was really enthusiastic about the whole thing. My only concern was that she wasn't going to get it done in time, but she kept at it."
"She has a lot of creative energy and uses it in a great artistic way," said her mother, Ellen Randall. "She is following her dad's footsteps in creating art."
She said her daughter enrolled in a yearlong internship program in Germany, where she hopes to study art. Last summer, she studied fashion design under the auspices of the Early College program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Vanessa said she will continue to fold gum wrappers into chains and turn them into her own designs, possibly one day to profit from her work.
"I have some extra that I was thinking of making corsages out of and accessories like purses," she said. "I might be able to sell them on the Internet."

ELLE MULIARCHYK

SHE'S NOT YOUR AVERAGE MODEL/PHOTOGRAPHER

TAKE A MOMENT FOR:
ELLE MULIARCHYK

AKA THE FITTING ROOM BANDIT
I had to post about her, I was absolutely besotted and became obsessed when I heard her story.

- She's a simultaneous model / photographer, meaning she takes her own pictures.
- She ventures to New York's ritziest stores and set's up her camera/props and takes pictures in fitting rooms in expensive designer gowns.
- She's been arrested for this
-She goes out late at night and takes pictures where she knows it can be dangerous, just to get the perfect shot.
- She been attacked by 8 thugs on one of her late night excursions, she was left clutching for her camera begging them not to take it.
- She's 21, and Belarusian and apparently insane. We love her for it.

FLASH BACK: KATE MOSS 1990 AGE 16

Always showing those nipples of hers.

KATE MOSS NOW: AGENT PROVOCATEUR
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OH NO IT'S HEIDIWOOD!

I didn't think Anchorblue would spend that much money on this, but they've truly gone all out. Hollywood and Highland became Heidiwood for a day. This is ridiculous, doesn't Heidi feel strange capitalizing on the fame she got because of Lauren? This collection is bad, it's worse then bad!

Look at all those paps!

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little, seriously.

POOR LAUREN
Wow, I thought I was sick of polka dots after the whole trend took off a couple of years back, but this dress looks really cute on Lauren.

CELEB LOOKS

KAT DELUNA
The minute I saw this picture of Kat I thought of Chanel. I know it's not exactly the same, but it's an interesting way to pull off the look in the real world. Not to say that I like Kat's whole look I think the necklace should go and that she could take off 5 of the 10 pounds of the makeup she has on.

KIM KARDASHIAN
I love this, I definitely want something like this for the summer. Geometric patterns are so fun. I'm not sure, but this looks like Emilio Pucci to me.

CATE BLANCHETT

SPOTTED: MR & MRS Z
Still no wedding rings. I know they are trying to keep this under wraps, but do they have to go to such extremes?

MISCHA BARTON
New hair and a few extra pounds, she's on the right path!

KRISTEN BELL

I'm obsessed with anything that has a beachy vibe, I'm crazy for this dress. Kristen looks radiant and beautiful.

RIHANNA
Spring florals, get 'em while their hot.

BILSON

This look is a bit different for her, I'm so use to her layering everything. I guess it's warming up in LA.

Oh I adore this boat dress. It's hard to find good vintage boat dresses, trust me I've been looking for a long time.

FERGIE FERG: TIE DYE YES OR NO?

KATE BOSWORTH
Love her long/sweater/ cardigan/coat whatever you call them.

HOLIDAY INSPIRATION

WAS MY BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY
Getting older really isn't anything that special anymore haha.

Since it's the holiday season and New Years is coming up I figured I needed some holiday fashion inspiration. Major TREND ALERT: Jewel tones. I don't know how this happened or if she hired a stylist, but Anne Hathaway has turned into such a fashionista.

CELEB STYLE

Dressy or Casual, there are both perfect for the holidays. I'm a bit more drawn to the shift dress cause I like to keep it simple.

I'm loving this ruffle skirt with the black tights and the second dress really highlights her figure.
