2009 SAG AWARDS / HAUTE COUTURE (PART 1)

26.01.2009
MONDAY - PART 1 OF 1

PARIS FASHION WEEK
DIOR HAUTE COUTURE S/S 09
Mischa Barton. She's really trying to work it here, and she looks good, but what is she doing with her career besides selling bags on ASOS? She better enjoy it while she can because pretty soon they are going to stop sending her invites to this stuff.

Dita Von Teese. She looks really great here, Dior's style totally suits her.

Kanye West. I've been seeing a lot of pictures of him lately looking happy, which use to be rare. Things must be going right in his life.

Marion Cotillard. She looks very sophisticated, the hair, lipstick and outfit all work perfectly.

When I think of Christian Dior two words come to my mind, Pretty and Drama. Another amazing collection, and feast for the eyes.

2009 SAG AWARDS

RATING: 1 (or less) being the worst and 5 being the best. This is just my random opinion, feel free to make up your own.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laura Linney in Michael Kors. She's been dressing so well, first she blew everyone away at the GGs then she stopped out in this amazingly flattering dress. Whomever her stylist is really knows what looks good on her.

RATING: 4

Dana Delaney. She certainly is never boring. Although her dress isn't really my taste, everything is pulled together well. Love the hair especially, she's got amazing hair.

RATING: 2.5

Kyra Sedgwick. She's aging so gracefully what a stunner. Her makeup looks perfect for this dress, and her necklace manages not to look gaudy.

RATING: 3.5

Lisa Edelstein. This gown compliments her skin tone and hair well.

RATING: 3

Eva Longoria. Although I think her hair was a bit of a disaster, I like this dress on her. It's strange because she always dresses so fun on the red carpet yet her expression is somber...it's not like she's at a funeral.

RATING: 2.8

Penelope Cruz is keeping with the velvet trend in this Azzaro dress.

RATING: 3.5

Jennifer Morrison. It's ok.

RATING: 2.7

Jennifer Carpenter. I love this look, even though it's all black, she still manages to look feminin.

RATING: 3.8

Angelina Jolie (The dress is worn backwards). She chose a plain dress as usual, but when your as beautiful as she is you don't need a dress that makes a statement.

RATING: 3

Kate Winslet. As much as I love the dress, something about the makeup and hair is off to me. It seems to downplay her beauty instead of highlighting it.

RATING: 3.6

America Ferrera. You either loved it, or you hated it. I loved it from the get go, the whole Spanish Lolita look.

RATING: 3.5

Jenna Fisher. Although not bad, this dress really doesn't' do it for me.

RATING: 2.5

Lisa Rinna. Is that part of her 'lower extremities' that I see pocking out? Good God, I sure hope not. And if it's true, how can you not wear underwear to such a high profile event? Especially if your dress is cut up to there! I always look forward to Lisa though, not just because of her gigantic silicone lips, but because she's always a guaranteed fail on the red carpet.

RATING: 0 (For possibly not wearing any undies.)

Katrina Bowden in Christian Siriano. I think she maybe should have dressed up a bit more, but I love this look and the color is stunning. I'm glad Christian is having so much success from ProRun.

RATING: 3.5

Nicolette Sheridan. This girl can't dress to impress, ever, period.

RATING: 2.5

Kate Flannery. I couldn't decide if I liked this look or not, it reminds me a lot of Ariel from The Little Mermaid. In the end I do like it.

RATING: 3

Olivia Wilde. I like the idea of the low cut white dress on her, it looks amazing against her skin and hair.

RATING: 3

Mindy Kaling. What a makeup disaster! Whomever did this to her should be fired, stat! I don't like the earrings too, there's just too much going on. I do like the color of the dress on her though.

Nancy O'Dell. What a disaster! This looks just like a longer version of my old dance costumes, and it seems just as cheap! What's up with the crappy sequin ribbon around the dress? Those should never ever be permitted on the red carpet.

RATING: 1.5

Holly Hunter. That's a big risk, I think she should have tried to pull her hair back in a sleek high fashion pony tail, it would have pulled off the look a lot better. She just seems like some ordinary girl going to the prom in that dress.

RATING: 2

Marisa Tomei. I think this dress was a bit of a hit and miss with a lot of people, but I'm always a sucker for anyone in yellow.

RATING: 3

Brenda Strong. The shape of her hairdo is a big strange, but I like her dress especially the top half.

RATING: 3

Perry Reeves. This dress looks like perfection on her, it fits her amazingly well.

RATING: 4

Paula Abdul. What is that thing on her chest? They look like two floaties! At least if she falls into the Pacific ocean she's got something to hold her up.

RATING: 1.5

Sally Fields. She's been wearing so many cute mini dresses. I'm really becoming a fan of seeing older women in mini dresses, it looks fun, but age appropriate at the same time.

January Jones is becoming a red carpet superstar, she just keeps getting it right one after the other.

RATING: 4.5

Saffron Burrows. What's up with her face? Is that real? it can't be. Note to Saffron, stay away from the knife! Age gracefully! (Maybe it's too late) Besides the face, I really really like this dress, it's cute on her.

RATING: 3

Teraji P. Henson. She was absolutely flawless.

RATING: 3.5

Shaun Robinson. Far out, why can't she get it right for once? I really hate this color 90% of the time on the red carpet and this is no exception.

RATING: 1

Julie Benz. She's been impressing me lately.

RATING: 3

Angela Kinsey. I think this dress could have used some more alterations.

RATING: 2.8

Melissa Leo. It would have been okay with some alterations. I really hate the back of the dress, and that thing on her shoulder is a little too big.

RATING: 2.5

Jane Krakowski. I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me.

RATING: 3

Marcia Cross. I'm surprised she even showed up considering what's going on in her personal life, but good on her though. As for the dress, it reminds me a bit too much of growing mold...harsh...but true.

RATING: 2

Diane Lane. Gorgeous dress, nice fit...but awful hair.

RATING: 3 (Would have gotten another point 5, if it wasn't for the hair.)

Violet Davis. She blew me away with this dress, it's perfection on her. One of my favorite looks of the night.

RATING: 4.5

Alison Pill. I love green on red heads especially with a red lip! I'm not 100% about the shoes, but the rest is great.

RATING: 3.5

Evan Rachel Wood. I really use to deteste her, but she's winning me over with her amazing aray or red carpet looks. I like the combination of the red hair, green dress and purple accessories.

RATING: 4.5

Tina Fey. It's cute, but nothing special.

RATING: 2.8

Emily Blunt. Okay, didn't post the best picture of her, but I really think the gown is stunning on her.

RATING: 3.5

Amy Adams in Giambattista Valli. This color reminds me a lot of Jessica Alba's Oscar gown from last year. I do like it though, bows on the front are a nice touch.

RATING: 3.8

Joy Lauren. I really like the tophalf and the color combination, but it's not the most flattering look.

RATING: 2.8

Laura Dern. She should have worn her hair straight, why match your hair to your dress?

RATING: 3

Andrea Bowen. I think it's a bit too much on the bottom, interesting look though, points for that!

RATING: 2.5

Teri Hatcher. I love this dress, she took a risk and pulled it off. However, she does have a way of ruining high fashion looks though...I don't know what it is...

Freida Pinto. I FINALLY SAW SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE AND IT IS TOOO GOOD TOOO GOOD! I highly recommend it, it's probably the best movie I've seen in ages...ages! She looks amazing here, I love this color and the makeup is impeccable.

RATING: 4.5

Samantha Harris.

Who wore it better?
Samantha
Katherine

Christina Applegate in Emanuel Ungaro. She looks great, and she took a risk! Thank you!

RATING: 3.5

Anne Hathaway. This dress looks stunning on her frame, I think she nailed it all around.

RATING: 4

Rosario Dawson.

Who wore it better?
Rosario
Rihanna
Katie

Jennifer Stone.

Who wore it better?
Jennifer
Virgina

Lisa Edelstein.

Who wore it better?
Lisa
Gabrielle

Mischa Barton looks like a weirdo, I love Lisa Edelstein, Olivia Wilde looks stunning, Penelope Cruz is gorgeous!! As usual thanks for the pics, it must take you ages to compile them!!!

this post was really long! Mischa is trying hard but I am afraid her glorious times passed away. She must have been freezing cold in Paris with that dress!! Her look is inappropriate.

You are such a star for this. I loved the Dior couture - such excess in times of hardship. Guess what I won't be buying!
Angelian does get it right doesn't she - very intellectually dressed comapred to the rest.

Hmm, mostly mediocre. Only one true stunner for me; Freida Pinto. Just WOW. Second place goes to Emily Blunt.

The rest I want to put in the following categories:
Ridiculous hair: Lisa Rinna, Nancy O'Dell, Laura Dern.
Just plain bad hair: Diane Lane,Kate Flannery, Anne Hathaway, Teri Hatcher, Angelina Jolie(whats up with the saggy old lady hair?).
Dude, who screwed up your face category: Lisa Rinna, Mindy Kaling(only the make-up), Saffron Burrows, Samantha Harris, Teri Hatcher.

I love the Dior Colloction!

I love Dita, she is just so beautiful. Terri Hatchet and most of those gals from Desperate Housewives kind of scare me. It's like they try too hard or something.

ugh, mischa barton. yeck.

loved the dior collection - absolutely stunning.

my faves at SAG were laura linney (she glowed), teri hatcher (dress only..she annoys me, too), evan rachel wood (even tho i don't like her much, either), amy adams, and i loved angelina's dress and how she wore it backwards. it worked better that way.

olivia wilde has stunning bone structure!

also ...(in regards to angie jo) beauty is no excuse for bad taste.
