RANDOM POST

ROBERTO CAVALLI
TALKS A BIT OF TRASH

THOUGHTS?

Designer Roberto Cavalli (Just Cavalli F/W 08/09 pictured above) talks about:

Vulgar dressing: "There is a real vulgarity in the way women dress at the moment. They show off too much and try too hard. They don't understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar. I know where that line is."

English women having no style, apparently: "It happens a lot with women of a certain nationality - I'm sure you can imagine which - and you just want to say 'Give it back!'?... The English - oh my God. I shouldn't say this because I live part of the time in London, but they are on a par with the Swiss stylistically." (LOL)

Kate Moss' Topshop line: "Kate Moss's collection was badly made, stupid and bland; you see things like that everywhere. You can't just buy things for the label - it's ridiculous."

I don't think all women do, but many do dress like he said.

It seems a little hypocritical for Cavalli to bash vulgar dressing...don't you think?

------
p.s. I went to Carleton so that's why I feel the need to bash O-Town (hated living there)...sorry, I didn't mean any offense..

come on, NO one loves Ottawa
that's hilarious

The Vancouverista - Enough, now your just being rude.

Wow did he really say that? Especially about Kate Moss... Gosh! I did like her collection but i wanst crazy over it. Nevertheless i did think she had some authentic designs.

My new template is done :)

I'm sorry
I didn't mean to be rude
just my opinion

^I'm off to bed, but just a note:
you could say it in a nicer way this is the city I was born in, not need to trash.

lol everyone from Vancouver thinks all other Canadian cities are inferior. As someone from Vancity, I've had my rude judgments of T.O. (where I live now) but now I see the pros and cons of every city :) And I think Ottawa is beautiful, it reminds me of a bigger, far more interesting and prettier Victoria. Also people are so friendly which I had a hard time getting used to lol.

And I think Kate Moss' TopShop line is not good. It's not really original since she just takes her designer goods as 'inspiration' But I wonder why Cavalli sounds so bitter, he's not exactly on the cutting edge of design.

Hi jen-re RC comments on the Kate Moss collection-I can see where he's coming from.....

maybe RC should stop flapping his chops and get back to the design studio because past four collections have been as bland as KM 4 Topshop!

Nice way to alienate a whole nation of buyers with the English comment?!

Roberto Cavalli OBVIOUSLY woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something!! Can't imagine he's won any fans with his comments!

In a way it looks very strange and I don't like it but in another it's great!

It's funny how Cavalli hasn't the slightest clue about his tacky self! Talk about crossing the line leopard lover!

I love his thoughts, as i think women dress too vulgar, too, but it is somewhat of a contrast to the ad, but I do love the ad.

I totally agree about women not knowing how to dress. I mean, there are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, when you see a young woman walking down the street in tight/revealing clothes, you just think of all the ways you can help her fix that... or at least I do.
I don't know how women in England dress, so no comment on that...
but re: the Kate Moss line -- I think he needs to realize that not everything out there can be designer. There is a market for the cheaper celebrity-designed lines because, let's face it, most of us can't afford to be draped in Roberto Cavalli from head to toe each day. He needs to get off his high horse and try living like a middle-class human being for once.
That's it for my rant :)

Wow, someone was feeling a bit feisty that day. I think all that animal print has gone to his head. His first comment is obvious, we see it everywhere. I can't say I totally agree with his other two comments though but I guess that's his opinion.

I wasn't looking to start a fight. I just lived in Ottawa for 4 years and it was a terrible experience. The end.

I think women would dress a lot less vulgarly if they didn't have Cavalli's collection to wear!

Cupcakes and Cashmere said...

wow, what a hypocrite! i certainly would not be too pleased if i were kate moss since she modeled for him, only to hear him bash her own line? even if that's how he feels, not cool!

Seraphine said...

I've seen some very classy English women, and Kate Moss is one of them. Sometimes we *want* to be vulgar. (Aarrr!)

Jen (MahaloFashion) said...

The Vancouverista - I'm not fighting with you, i'm just responding to the commments you left me. yeeesh

Whoa there! As if he said that! I disagree with all his comments. Though the Kate Moss collection is so-so but the summer one isn't too bad. It's annoying because it's not her own exclusive line, it's for Topshop! Oh and I'm quite offended by english women having no style. Silly man. lol.

what he talking about, completly rubbish

meliindaa. said...

hahahaa the kate moss comment. i just think that's funny. i have no idea why.

Seeker said...

He didn't say anything new. Always have been and it always will be women dressing better than others.
But I think there are many people trying to do ones best.
What I regret it's a fault of designers with the low waist pants and short tops, there are so many girls that seem not see that that isn't nice on them.

RC obviously is under the impression that whatever he says will be considered absolute truth, but really he comes off as down right rude and arrogant. If moss models for you, the least you could do is not say how crap her line is, if you really think that then just don't say anything. I mean honestly what was he really expecting from her, we just know its kate brining in her wardrobe to topshop and them copying it, not her truly desiging the line, yet he makes it sound like couture. speaking of which, he's not really that groundbreaking or classy of a designer anyway

go iñaki (9:35 )! you took the words out of my mouth.

"They don't understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar. I know where that line is." says Cranky Cavalli. Does he know?

Alya said...

Meow!

Well, I must say Cavalli does go over the line with vulgar animal prints and shredded or exposed skin dresses!
